We are a digital marketing company which helps small enterprises to run their online business. Also we provide some more advanced digital management services to help some government departments and other brands like Toyota/Lexus Macau to manage their online marketing image. I started my business in 2017 and right now we help over 300 small businesses in Macau.
Most of them are using our e-commerce tool called E-Sales, an e-commerce platform to help them to build their own online shops, a bit like Shopify but more of a local solution developed by ourselves. O-Moon is one of our clients and their online store is built by Esales. From creating products and descriptions, to sharing on social media, then people can buy it online immediately, using local payment methods and shipping methods – it’s like an all-in-one solution.
When small businesses go from traditional offline retail to online, they need to write descriptions for their products, highlighting the attractive selling points, so we have created an auto generating product description AI. We use past data to try to make the text look more like their own authentic output. A business owner can just enter the product name and a photo and the AI function will create a product description automatically, in any language.
This can really help small businesses to save time and reduce costs. We have a clear mindset that our clients are not buying technology, they’re buying a whole solution to make the process faster and easier and to increase their sales.
Our other AI function is related to customer service. In 2018 we created some chatbot solutions to help companies reply to customer comments and enquiries on Instagram and Facebook, but at that time the chatbots were not so smart and didn’t know how to respond well. Right now though, ChatGPT and Claude.ai can do it much better. It’s a very important technological breakthrough. The response time is very fast and they are more like humans and can also express emotions.
Many small businesses only have one or two employees so they don’t have time to respond to customers. This chatbot won’t be able to close a deal, but it can help them to respond quickly so they won’t lose valuable customers.
Internally in our company, we’ve been using AI a lot since last year. The development of generative AI has been so fast and it can help us to create a lot more ideas and to automate so many repeat tasks, ultimately saving us a lot of time. In the beginning we used ChatGPT a lot, but this year we’ve starting using tools like Claude.ai which we find is better and more cost effective. We use it to help us do research, brainstorm ideas for client marketing strategies, and also for copyediting when we are writing proposals for the government.
I also make a lot of videos on Instagram to teach digital marketing techniques and we’ve start using AI to create these videos – the AI is Heygen from a Shenzhen company that has already scaled globally. Some of the videos are really me and some are AI generated, and it’s getting harder and harder to tell the difference!
