“Wynn’s Ode to the East” mooncake gift box

Wynn Partners with The Palace Museum Cultural and Creative Products Hong Kong Space to Present “Wynn’s Ode to the East” Mid-Autumn Mooncake Gift Boxes

As a special commemorative tribute to the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland, Wynn has partnered with The Palace Museum Cultural and Creative Products Hong Kong Space and the Macau Guandan Association to create an elegant and meaningful “Wynn’s Ode to the East” mooncake gift box for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival. The cleverly designed gift box reflects the rich heritage of Chinese culture and conveys congratulations to the success of the nation and the prosperity of the East. “Wynn’s Ode to the East” is the perfect gift for families and friends to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and appreciate the beauty of Chinese culture.

The elegant, hand-written Chinese characters for “Wynn’s Ode to the East” which grace the mooncake gift box cover were collected from the calligraphic works of Emperor Qianlong, which the Palace Museum so graciously shared with Wynn. The emperor’s masterful art of writing highlights the royal aesthetics of the Forbidden City and the remarkable, intangible heritage of Chinese culture. The festive red color showcases the majesty of the Forbidden City, while an auspicious cloud pattern symbolizes the prosperity of the nation. Opening the mooncake gift box is very much like stepping into the Forbidden City, where the prosperity of the East, the achievements of the nation’s developments, and China’s rich culture are on display for the world to see. Once the gift box is fully open, the beautiful jade green windows which are found along Rua da Felicidade come into full view. Through Wynn’s revitalization efforts at Rua da Felicidade, this area of important cultural significance has become a unique new landmark for experiencing Macao’s culture and serves as a special tribute to the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland.

The gift box also comes with a creatively designed Guandan Card Game Set inspired by Wynn and the Macau Guandan Association for friends and families to enjoy playing this competitive Chinese card game, while also experiencing a truly relaxing time together. Guandan, which literally means “throwing eggs”, is a card game which originated in Huai’an, Jiangsu Province and has recently become a nationwide craze. The length-to-width ratio of the Guandan cards has been thoughtfully designed to highlight the distance between Macao and Huai’an as well as Huai’an and Beijing –symbolizing that the Guandan card game is a cultural tie that closely connects the three destinations. As an important bridge for the exchange of cultures around the world, Macao is an ideal destinationfor encouraging more people from across the globe to play the fun and intellectual game of Guandan. In future, Wynn will continue to showcase Chinese culture on a global level through Macao which continues to enjoy a unique role as a “Cultural City of East Asia” and an international platform for East-West cultures.

Wynn is collaborating with the renowned local October Fifth Bakery once again to present tea-flavored mooncakes. Guests may choose from two “Wynn’s Ode to the East” mooncake gift boxes featuring the popular Wynn Tea Classic Mooncakes or Wynn Signature Mooncakes. Both gift boxes are priced at MOP 588 each.
