Studio City winter wonderland at Christmas Bazaar

Melco Resorts & Entertainment officially opened its doors to the Studio City Christmas Bazaar.

Melco Resorts & Entertainment officially opened its doors to the Studio City Christmas Bazaar on December 1. From December 1 to 31, Melco has invited over 40 local Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to showcase products and services at the festively decorated outdoor marketplace located at Studio City’s French Garden as part of its commitment towards the development and advancement of local SMEs for the sustainable future of Macau.

Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO, said, “We continue to be committed to developing successful partnerships with local suppliers and SMEs for the sustainable development of Macau. Today, we are excited to combine our efforts towards this objective with Melco’s celebrated beyond-gaming offerings through the Studio City Christmas Bazaar to bring festive entertainment to our guests, visitors and the local community. It is hoped the Bazaar will not only enhance market exposure and sales for participating local merchants, but also enable Melco to build and strengthen relationships with Macau’s SMEs, to help each other identify products and services that can be offered to our guests and the wider industry.”

Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macao Government Tourism Office, said, “In our aims to contribute to the city’s transformation into a world center of tourism and leisure, and with the expected increase in Macau’s visitor numbers for the month of December, we are pleased to witness Melco continue to present such meaningful and exciting non-gaming offerings as the Christmas Bazaar at Studio City to attract both local residents and overseas visitors.”

Mr. U Kin Cho, Member of the Board of Directors, Macao Chamber of Commerce, said, “It is hugely encouraging for us to see integrated resort operators such as Melco enthusiastically provide innovative and effective platforms of support to local SMEs, so that we may collaboratively strive to achieve social stability and economic prosperity in the Macao SAR.”

Officiating guests including Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macao Government Tourism Office; Ms. Zhu Hong, Deputy Director General of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Yau Yun Wa, DSE Head of Economic Activities Development Department; Mr. Choi Tat Meng and Mr. U Kin Cho, Members of the Board of Directors, Macao Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Lei Si Tai, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, Industrial Association of Macau; Mr. Yip Sio Man, Chairman, Macau Union Suppliers Association; Mr. Lei Kit Heng, Director-General, Macau Union Suppliers Association; and Mr. Sou Chon Heng, Chief Supervisor, Macau Union Suppliers Association were welcomed to the opening ceremony at Studio City by Melco executives including Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO; Dr. Kent Wong, Chief Advisor; Mr. Geoff Andres, Property President of Studio City; Ms. Maggie Ma, Chief Government Affairs Officer; and Mr. Donald Tateishi, Senior Vice President, Finance.

Open to the public daily between 5pm to 10pm, the bazaar represents of a wide range of local businesses offering food & beverage, handicrafts, toys, decorations and furnishings, and other gift categories, and targets visitors, tourists, and gift shoppers during the festive month. Also offered is a range of family-friendly activities such as face painting, handicraft workshops, performances and giveaways.

As part of its dedicated efforts towards supporting local SME development, Melco has initiated a number of campaigns including the Studio City Christmas Bazaar, Pop-up Stores, and the ‘Knowing You, Knowing Us’ initiative to serve as a communications platform between SMEs and Melco; to help SMEs get to know Melco as a company, its management team and employees, as well as the Company’s operational requirements and standards, and for Melco to get to know Macau’s local suppliers, their businesses, services and offerings.
