The award-winning Banyan Tree Spa Macau launches a new spa menu with enhanced signature therapies drawing on Asian traditions to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. The tranquil spa spans over the 2nd and 31st floors of the sky-high resort. On its eighth anniversary, the spa unveils 21 new and improved treatments elevating the premium spa experience.
The treatments behind the new spa menu are developed by the Banyan Tree Spa Academy in Phuket, emphasising a non-clinical ‘high-touch, low-tech’ approach that celebrates the human touch. Guests will choose between two massage oils, Love and Peace, created to complement their current state of mind. Drawing on Asian traditions with a focus on the Indian and Indonesian customs that date back centuries, the new “Time Honoured Traditions” massages are based on evolving techniques passed down through generations.
Indian Traditions (90 minutes at MOP2,400*) features Ayurvedic techniques and commences with deep breaths to open up the body’s chakras to increase personal power and expand awareness. A highlight of this treatment is the Chakra Head Massage and Shirodhara treatment which is based on more than 4,000 years of tradition and adopt the concept of calming the mind. Deriving from Sanskrit, the treatment focuses on shiro (head) and dhara (flow) to relieve anxiety through a consistent stream of soothing warm oil onto the forehead, calming the mind and easing the guest into a mindful experience. Different oils are used in Ayurvedic massage treatments to induce a state of relaxation, condition and revitalise damaged hair, combat hair loss due to stress and promote hair growth.
Traditionally known as a treatment for prospective brides as a purifying ritual before marriage, Indonesian Traditions (120 minutes at MOP2,400*) features a Balinese Lulur Massage followed by a century-old beauty regime incorporating healing ingredients and an herbal bath to create a blissful, radiant glow from head to toe. Balinese massages are also renowned for combining broad, gentle strokes, acupressure and reflexology. A variety of techniques are used including skin rolling, kneading and stroking, and pressure-point stimulation, combined with the aromas of essential oils. A relaxing massage with intention, this treatment will help the flow of energy through deep massage techniques while nourishing and softening the skin.
The Signature Master Therapist Experience (90 minutes at MOP2,400*) offers a truly tailored treatment conducted by a master therapist with over 8 years of experience. Starting with a detailed consultation and body workup to determine the client’s flexibility, balance and muscle condition, the therapist carefully curates the treatment with a repertoire of signature massage techniques and hot and cold treatments.
The oils, body scrubs and wraps used for all 21 new and improved treatments are made with natural ingredients such as herbs, spices and aromatic oils that reawaken the client’s senses by the intuitive touch of the therapist. Other revitalising treatments include the signature Royal Banyan (150 minutes at MOP3,200*), which is perfect for urbanites. The package uses East meets West massage techniques to improve blood circulation and ease muscle aches.
