ONE CENTRAL Macau is pleased to unveil a series of seven art sculptural installations entitled ‘One Central Loves Macao’ at the Waterfront Promenade and at designated locations inside the mall. Located outdoors at the mall’s entrance, the photogenic and interactive installation ‘Love Macao’ adorning the city’s name with a heart was designed by renowned Macanese artist Tramy Lui, and is a contemporary icon celebrating the city’s unique East-West heritage, and a must-visit for locals and tourists. Inspired by the stained-glass artistry found across Macao’s most beloved landmarks, from the Ruins of St. Paul’s to the Lady of Sorrows Church, ‘One Central Loves Macao’ is a radiant installation that captures the spirit of a city where East meets West and heritage meets heart.
As the newest iconic tourist landmark in the city, Tramy Lui portrays her love of Macao through rainbow lights and colours. Harnessing the dynamic qualities of light as it filters through a transparent medium reminiscent of stained glass, her artwork transforms according to different lighting conditions, inviting audiences to discover the historical and cultural charm of her home. To celebrate the launch, ONE CENTRAL Macau will offer an array of exciting shopping rewards from 28 April to 11 May, including limited-time shopping rebates of up to 10%, complimentary flight tickets to destinations throughout Asia, shopping and F&B vouchers.
The lighting ceremony of ‘One Central Loves Macao’ took place on 28 April in a spectacular celebration attended by distinguished guests from the government, arts and culture sectors across Macao and Hong Kong. What’s on for ‘One Central Loves Macao’
From vibrant storytelling to immersive interaction, ‘One Central Loves Macao’ is an invitation to pause, reflect, and celebrate the cultural richness that makes Macao truly unforgettable.
In collaboration with internationally renowned Macanese artist and designer Tramy Lui, ONE CENTRAL Macau is delighted to present an extraordinary sculpture encouraging play and photo-taking among members of the public. Tramy vividly expresses the love she feels towards her home city of Macao, drawing inspiration from the art of stained glass to create works that are both modern and timeless. Utilising a rainbow spectrum of colours, the youthful exuberance of Tramy’s works is thoughtfully crafted through a heartfelt fusion of light, colour, hope and blessings of the future. The ‘Love Macao’ outdoor installation is located at the Waterfront Promenade, with a design that references imagery from beloved landmarks and intangible cultural elements of Macao’s unique Chinese-Portuguese heritage. Embedded in the letters are glimpses of Lou Kau Mansion, Ruins of Saint Paul’s, Our Lady of Sorrows Church, St. Lawrence’s Church and Portuguese folk dance, alongside modern symbols such as the city streetlights and iconography from ONE CENTRAL Macau. The result is a radiant installation that captures the spirit of a city where East meets West, and heritage meets heart.

Complementing this outdoor installation, erected on ground floor inside the mall is the ‘Macao’s Heart’ installation, consisting of a giant red heart situated in front of a replica of the Ruins of Saint Paul’s. The charming and colourful twist laid over Macao’s most distinctive historical landmark seeks to combine the dual facets of the city’s identity, representing the harmonious co-existence of Chinese and Portuguese, East and West.

Nearby is a giant installation ‘Beacon of Sound’ inspired by the Guia Hill Pedestrian Tunnel, with the Guia Lighthouse peeking out at the top of it. This scaled-down and rainbow coloured version of the tunnel is the temporary home of an in-built public piano, transforming it from a mere visual art piece to an inviting space for interaction and play. Members of the public are encouraged to interact with the piano and express themselves through the universal language of music. The installation is a portrayal of the intertwined relationship between history and modernity, embodying an artistic philosophy in which cultural transmission goes hand-in-hand with public engagement.

Scattered in various locations around the mall on the first and ground floors are ‘Time Capsule Mailboxes’. These four colourful mailboxes were once a mode for the transmission of people’s messages, and though they have since been decommissioned, they nevertheless carry countless memories and stories within them, bearing witness to Macao’s transformation from a Portuguese colony to its return to the Motherland. Now, this installation with carrying memories will continue to deliver our loves to the future. With any spending at ONE CENTRAL Macau during the promotional period, guests will receive a complimentary One Central Loves Macao postcard to write and post messages to their loved ones.
