Best known as an international entertainment hub and tourism destination, Macau has hosted many beauty pageants over the years, but few contestants have truly gone on to represent Macau at an international level. Established in 1951, the prestigious Miss World contest will celebrate its 70th anniversary at the upcoming Miss World Festival to be held in Thailand this year, and for the first time ever, Macau will host the Miss World Macau Special Administrative Region of China contest.
This year, local company Kingsway Group will officially introduce the competition to Macau, in search of one special woman who can represent Macau at the upcoming Miss World 2020, to promote Macau’s unique tourism offerings, culture and specialties. Applications are now open.
The Miss World Macau Final will be held at the Grand Hyatt Macau on the 28th of March, 2020. The champion will go on to represent the Macau SAR of China at the international grand final of the 70th Miss World 2020.
Originally held in the United Kingdom, Miss World is the world’s longest-running international beauty pageant. Through promoting a message of world peace and empowering women, the contest attracts contestants from over one hundred countries and territories across the globe.
Miss World Organisation Chairperson, Julia Morley, is a well-respected charity enthusiast. Over the years, she has embarked on numerous charitable fundraising activities. The organisation has raised over £250 million (equivalent to MOP2.6 billion), helping disadvantaged children around the world.
Macau has experienced over four centuries of cultural exchange between the East and West. Being one of the most multicultural cities throughout Chinese history, Macau has a unique heritage of diversity. The Miss World Macau contest is a remarkable opportunity to showcase the charm and elegance of Macau beauty.
