Macau Skateboarding Sports Culture and Development General Association Aims to Promote Skateboarding and Enhance Skateboarding Culture

LISBOETA SKATEPARK, Macau’s first Outdoor Skatepark, managed by “Macau Skateboarding Sport Culture and Development General Association” (MSSCDGA) will commence a soft opening ceremony at Lisboeta Macau H853 Outdoor Event Space on 15 March, 2025. This significant milestone introduces the Macau’s first outdoor extreme sports facility within the integrated resort, positioning as a new hotspot for sports enthusiasts and furthering the Macau’s “Tourism + Sports” integration strategy, aims to promote cultural tourism through cross-border collaboration with diverse and engaging experiences.

Uniting Four Associations to Preserve Skateboarding Heritage

LISBOETA SKATEPARK as a key sport and entertainment feature in addition to Lisboeta Macau H853 Outdoor Event Space, is managed by MSSCDGA – a collective of four skateboarding associations including Macau Association of Skateboarding Culture, Macau Association of Skateboarding Development, Macau Association of Skateboarding Exchange and Learning, and Macau Skateboarding Association. All current board members of the associations are engaged to skateboarding and witnessed the growth of skateboarding in Macau since the 1990’s. The skateboarding is an amazing sport and activity, as it promotes self-expression, and a form of exercise requiring full body movements. Through the partnership with Lisboeta Macau, MSSCDGA aims to provide a safe and professional exercise venue for both locals and travelers, while in hopes of participating in the Asian and International Games around the world.

Olympic Momentum Fuels City and Tourism Innovation

Skateboarding is becoming an activity that is growing in popularity all around the world. As it started out from a subsection of surfboarding, this sport activity has been around since the 1940’s and keeps on evolving in Asia until now, and finally has been recognized as an official Olympic sport with its first appearance in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic (Skateboarding Street and Park). Lisboeta Macau has partnered with MSSCDGA to develop a professional and international skateboarding facility to attract skateboarding enthusiasts from the Greater Bay Area and beyond, share the professional knowledge and skills, hold skateboarding opening day and regular training to athletes, so as to reinforce Macau’s position in the international skateboarding scene and promoting the integration of sports and cultural tourism.

Leading the Evolution of Macau’s Leisure Landscape

Lisboeta Macau is the first Macau-themed tourist destination, dedicated to support the diversified development of Macau’s tourism industry. The soft opening of the LISBOETA SKATEPARK further supports the diversification of Macau’s economy and enhances the tourism development in order to retain the positioning as the “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.
