International Yoga Day

Pousada de Coloane and Yoga Love Macau celebrates International Yoga Day

To join forces with yogis around the world, Pousada de Coloane and a local Yoga organization, Yoga Love Macau, will celebrate International Yoga Day with a full day program of yoga classes and wellbeing activities on June 22, 2019. This fun, free event is sponsored by Pousada de Coloane for the 3rdyear in a row.

The event is open to the public for free and is dedicated to raising awareness on climate change through the practice of 108 Sun Salutations in a row.

During the full day celebration, the participants will have the opportunity to explore a variety of yoga styles with nine experienced teachers from Macau and Hong Kong. The program starts with 108 Sun Salutations at 8:00 and ends at 18:15 with Iyengar Yoga.

The number 108 has many important and symbolic meanings in Mathematics, Astronomy, Buddhism and Yoga. Sun Salutation is a series of poses performed in a sequence to create a flow of movement.

It’s the organizers’ sincere hope the completion of the 108 repetitions will create a rippling effect as the local communities gather together to raise consciousness on the urgency of taking action to help mitigate the risks of climate change.
