Cinematheque‧Passion once again presents Future Roads — Cross-Strait cum Hong Kong and Macao College Student Film Festival in November. The festival aims to provide a platform for university students from the mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao to gain filmmaking experience and learn from each other. Led by experienced film curator Penny Lam, “How to be a Film Curator” workshop is part of the festival. It is open for Macao university students to apply.
A film curator should give much considerations to film selection, and undertake a host of practical tasks, including negotiating copyrights, briefing promotional and design directors, liaising with a team in arranging subtitles, screening formats and promotions. The workshop also invites screening professionals of Cinematheque‧Passion to share their skills and experiences in subtitling and screening format arrangement. The workshop is undertaken in Cantonese.
Workshop leader is experienced curator Penny Lam. Lam started making films in 2007, working mostly in documentaries. In 2012, he finished an MA in Screen Documentary at London’s Goldsmiths University. Illegalist is the filmmaker’s first fictional short film. In 2016, he founded Macao International Documentary Film Festival with a partner and is the curator of the festival.
Workshop is open for application now. Those who are interested should apply online at www.cinematheque-passion.moand submit a 200-word text under the theme “What is Your Film Festival?”. Workshop leader will select the ten best applicants, who must submit a workshop fee of MOP$400. Application closes on 20 October.

CUT Ltd. will be responsible for the programming and operation of the Cinematheque. The ticket office is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 11:30pm; while the film information room is open from 10am to 8pm. The Cinematheque is also open during public holidays but is closed on Mondays.
