Cinematheque‧ Passion once again invites four young directors this year to lead filmmaking workshop “Four Film Brothers Teach You to be Junior Filmmakers” for local high school students from 20 to 26 August. Participants will learn screenwriting, cinematography, lighting, editing, post-production and more, and finish a short film of up to 8 minutes in the first six days. Their final videos will be screened at the Cinematheque on 26 August.
The four workshop leaders are ambitious emerging directors. Koi Wang Chao won the Best Short Film award in the 9th FIRST Xining International Film Festival with short film The Light. Chi Wai Cheung’s short films – Cup Noodle, Orpheus and Log in Dinner- were well received in the local industry. Kung-ho Ting’s portfolio includes short A Night in Taipei Station and documentary Dear Sister. Ka-wei Lee’s short films include Absurd World.
Target participants are Macao secondary school students (Form 1 to Form 6), and the workshop is undertaken in Cantonese. Quota is 15 and on a first-come-first-served basis. Workshop fee is MOP$600. Workshop is open for application now. Those who are interested should submit their application in person at the Cinematheque. Application includes completed entry form (in the enclosed leaflet), a film script of 300-500 words, proof of class (entrants who are under 16 must submit applications for their guardians’ authorization) and fee. CUT Ltd. will be responsible for the programming and operation of the Cinematheque. The ticket office is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 11:30pm; while the film information room is open from 10am to 8pm. The Cinematheque is also open during public holidays but is closed on Mondays.
