Cinematheque.Passion’s “Film Critics Programme” returns with another exciting series of six lessons, led by veteran Hong Kong film critic Ka Ming, from May to October. During the programme, participants will learn how to appreciate a film from different angles, such as story structure, character description, directing, mise-en-scène, use of soundtrack and sound. Quota is twenty, and this free programme is open for application now.
Over these six months, a two-hour lesson takes place every month. The programme is divided into three phases. Participants are required to watch a certain number of films that are screened at the Cinematheque, and submit assignments regularly. Those meeting instructor’s requirements will enter the next phase. Participants will enjoy 20% to 50% ticket discounts according to the phase they are in. Those completing all three phases might become the contributing film critic of the Cinematheque, and will enjoy 20% ticket discounts for a year.
The instructor Ka Ming is a veteran film critic from Hong Kong, with articles published in Ming Pao Daily News. Under his sophisticated guidance over the last two editions of the programme, the Cinematheque has discovered and fostered some outstanding local film critics.
“Film Critics Programme 2019”is open for application now. Applicants must complete the enclosed application form, write a short article of 200-300 words, and submit it in person at Cinematheque; or submit the online application form, available for download at www.cinematheque-passion.mo by the end of 26 April 2019. The instructor will choose the twenty best applications. Successful applicants will be informed via email.
