The St. Regis Zhuhai was officially opened on October 18, signaling a new era of luxury hospitality in the fast-emerging destination. Overlooking the stunning shoreline and just a short ferry ride from Macau, The St. Regis Zuhai occupies floors 41 to 72 of the Zhuhai Tower, the city’s newest landmark in the business district. The St. Regis Zhuhai, as the 10th St. Regis in the Greater China Area, features the renowned hallmarks of the iconic luxury brand, including modern design, innovative culinary experiences and exceptional amenities, including the signature St. Regis butler service.
“The St. Regis brand has a strong legacy. It has a history, a culture, and we take the legacy to recraft the classics. We want to bring a new look to Zhuhai, and to inspire exquisite living,” says Juan Samso, General Manager of the establishment, when we speak with him on the opening weekend.
The St. Regis Zhuhai offers 251 elegant guest rooms, including 34 suites and a 1,100 square-metre Presidential Suite. All guest rooms have panoramic views of the waterways of the Greater Bay area, as well as the historical landscapes and bridge structures of Macau and Zhuhai. Designed by Wilson Associates, each guest room features glamourous touches, including a diamond pattern which pays tribute to the brand’s founding patroness, Caroline Astor, who loved the precious stone. A sophisticated team of St. Regis butlers offers guests discreet, personalized and anticipatory attention, down to every detail.
Guests are taken on an extraordinary epicurean journey in its five distinctive restaurants and bars, guided by Executive Chef Ramon Turmo, a veteran of luxury hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants.
“In the Italian restaurant LaBrezza, you have a Michelin chef from Italy, Michele Tenzone. It’s on the top of the building, the highest Italian restaurant in the Guangdong area,” Samso says proudly. “You also have The St Regis Bar, with a fantastic Jazz singer performing daily.”
In addition, the hotel also features Social, which is inspired by the first-class dining salons of 1900’s cruise liners and showcases the finest seafood; Yan Ting, a superb destination for modern Cantonese fine dining, featuring individually handcrafted dishes by Hong Kong Master Chef Tang Wai Man; and Air 71, where guests can marvel at Zhuhai’s breathtaking night panorama with the city’s finest cocktails and an extensive selection of wines, champagne and light bites.
The Iridium Spa on the 68th floor of the hotel is another place to treat yourself to some luxury relaxation. Featuring nine state-of-the-art treatment rooms, each with a Living Earth therapy bed, it provides private pampering, from revitalizing facials to soothing massages. St. Regis Signature treatments – the Chakra Balancing Massage and the V-shape Face Lift restore and fortify the body, mind and soul.
Guests can swim under the clouds while taking in magnificent views of the city from The St. Regis Zhuhai’s outdoor sky pool on the 71st floor. At the exclusive St. Regis Athletic Club on the 69th floor, guests can work out on a range of sophisticated cardio and strength equipment, unwind with a yoga session and enjoy a relaxing swim in a heated indoor pool.
The St. Regis Zhuhai also offers a wide range of generous layouts and deluxe amenities for all events and gatherings, with 1,500 square-metres of meeting space. The St. Regis rooftop on the 72nd floor offers stunning views of the river channel between Hengqin and Macau’s Cotai Strip, providing the ideal backdrop for all events. For larger events, there is The Astor Ballroom on the ground level, with its very own entrance.
Looking to the future, Samso envisions The St. Regis Zhuhai as a crucial point in the brand’s Greater Bay Area network, along with The St. Regis Macao, The St. Regis Shenzhen, and the soon-to-be-opened The St. Regis Hong Kong.
“There are a lot of customers that go to Zhuhai, stay for a couple of days, then go to Hong Kong shopping, and to Macau to try their luck in the casinos. Here is a key point to stop by and access other cities in the area. We are in the right place at the right time,” smiles Samso.
