Bene Italian Kitchen’s popular Food & Wine Mercato will enable diners to immerse themselves in the authentic experiences of Italy with a variety of themes that pay homage to the rich and diverse gastronomical heritage of Italian cuisine in a fun and vibrant market atmosphere.
Under the direction of Executive Sous Chef Luca Pecorari, the 2019 Mercato series held on a Friday and Saturday in the middle of every month, will give diners the opportunity to experience the true Italian way of life – la dolce vita – through carefully curated, special menus and some of the best Italian wines available in Macao.
The Food & Wine Mercato begins the New Year featuring ‘The North’ – cuisine from the northern parts of Italy that is renowned across the world for its rich and hearty dishes that showcase some of the highest quality ingredients.
‘The North’ at Bene Food & Wine Mercato will feature dishes that reflect the northern Italian landscape – mountainous terrain at the foot of the Alps with green pastures ideal for cattle grazing and a focus on dairy. Northern Italy is home to some of the best cheeses in the world which is reflected in many of the northern Italian dishes being featured at the Mercato.
In January, diners can enjoy canederli con burro e salvia – bread and pancetta dumplings served with butter sage and parmigiano, as well as crespelle alla valdostana – baked crepes stuffed with fontina cheese, ham and mushrooms. For something more substantial, meat eaters can feast on brasato al Barolo – slow red wine braised oyster blade beef served with mash potato or the Milan classic buseca alla Milanese – slow braised beef tripe and beans. The mouthwatering regional specialty vitello tonnato – cold carved roasted veal loin with tuna, anchovy and caper sauce will also feature.
Now entering its third year, the Bene Food & Wine Mercato is a unique dining concept that explores the culinary traditions and authentic flavors of Italy, in a vibrant market atmosphere where diners can wine and dine like a true Italian while browsing the wine displays and interactive cooking stations. Other exciting themes to look forward to in 2019 include a tribute to the Venetian Carnival in February, The Almafi Coast in March for seafood lovers, and Food From Famous Films in April.
The Mercato also boasts a range of Italian ingredients and artisanal products for sale so guests can also recreate their favorite dishes at home.
