slippers and mules

Have you noticed that satin slippers and mules are making a huge comeback?  These are the kind of shoes my mum used to wear!  But now, their resurgence is all about the shape (pointy, open-toe, or square), the material (satin, leather, tweed or a mix!) and lastly, the different heels (how many inches tall, block, kitten or stiletto?) The variations amaze me.  Do you remember shoe clips? It just makes total sense! Although it they aren’t common anymore, I will be creating some clips that can change the look of your slippers completely. There are two ways you can go about this – one that goes for impact (think big, pom-poms and feathers), or one that is extra special with a delicate touch.  I will demonstrate both ways and show you how easy they are.  Best of all, you can remove them all so one pair can give you three looks!

HOW TO:

What you need: scissors, earring clips, hot glue and all the feathers, flowers, crystals, ribbons you have on hand!

Planning is key.  Take a look at the inspo  we created.  What do you like about it? Prepare the materials!

2 Once you’ve decided, it’s easy to get to work.  Take your glue gun and start working! Tip – Make sure the surface of the clip fits securely on your shoe.  You can enlarge the surface of the clip but add a stiffer piece of leather, or thick ribbon as the base.

When the trinkets and crystals are securely dried onto the earring clip, now you can clip it onto your shoe!

Explore beyond just the surface of the shoe.  In one of the looks I’ve created, I’ve taken a long feather on a ribbon to wrap around the ankles too.  If this is the look you desire, you will need to measure the width of the shoe and your ankles accordingly.

Tada! All done, time to show off your creation!

Lace up and it’s all done!
