Mind, Body & Skin

As this year comes to an end, the tradition of creating a New Year’s Resolution list for ourselves becomes a present and positive reality. After all, we all want to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. Now, this is a very personal subject, so I will leave the rest of the list to you, but here are some tips to consider from someone who knows that our world can sometimes be a little bit too fast and stressful:

1. Balance your mind and find your centre by doing something that you love, like reading a book, drawing or playing a musical instrument. It can do wonders for your brain’s well-being in the long run and especially as we get older.

2. Balance your body by adding sports to your routine. There is a lot of scientific evidence that shows that doing sport can provide a range of positive health and psychological effects.

3. Eat healthy, especially foods rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta-carotene and Oligoelements (Zinc, Manganese, Selenium), for these are powerful antioxidants. Try not to over cook your food and eat raw often, from fruits to vegetables, there’s a lot to choose from.

4. Try some Traditional Chinese Medicine sessions of Acupuncture, Tui Na or Cupping to help your body reach a balance between its Ying and Yang.

5. Keep a daily skin care routine as your skin goes through many changes over the year, from dry to oily. Don’t forget your feet and your hands too. Both require special care.

6. Protect your face from the harsh environment by using an appropriate skin care routine. Invest in medical formulated products and your skin will thank you in the long run. From a cleanser to an SPF, the routine may vary according to your skin type and the season you are in.

7. Finally, and I can’t stress this enough, give a great deal of thought to your sleep routine, for a good night sleep is paramount to bringing mind, body and skin into balance. Avoid too much caffeine especially after 2pm, and heavy meals at night. Turn off all electronic devices when you go to bed as light can delay your sleep cycles, and keep your room as dark as possible to stimulate your melanin production and assure a peaceful night.

As another cycle begins remember that the road to happiness is different for everyone, but it usually involves bringing others along with you. You are an amazing, beautiful, powerful being! Share it with those around you.
