Forever Kids, Forever Cool

What’s better than being a kid? Everything is colourful, funny, out of this world, mysterious, super mega cool! I’m not surprised that every single one of us, at one point in time, has wondered about or even wished to go back in time, and just spend a few days and nights playing completely silly games with our toys, not having to worry about work.

But let’s be realistic, everybody needs to grow up, and to be honest, it’s not that bad being an adult.  At least you get to choose what time you go to bed and what you want to eat.

In regards to the design world, it’s not only grown ups who can enjoy beautifully designed furniture. Children can too. The only difference is, they just don’t appreciate or and understand it yet. But luckily, at least one designer does, and as a result makes things easier for kids, parents, schools and anyone who cares about children.

Eugenio Perrazza, president of Magis, had the brilliant idea of focusing on designing cool little pieces of furniture for the cheeky little children across the world. It’s a good start, just by giving them something different, with a touch of playfulness and totally adaptable to their needs.

The Magis 'Me Too' collection is a line of products where you can pick the coolest furniture or home accessories for your child.

For instance, Little Flare, by Marcel Wanders, is a table with transparent legs in standard injection moulded polycarbonate, that comes with patterned tops, pen holders and a sketch book. Any child who loves drawing or simply messing around with pens and crayons – and drives their parents crazy with stained walls and floors – will surely love this extraordinary piece of furniture. It allows a kind of interaction between the furniture and the kid, making it a useful yet highly intelligent piece to be used anywhere.

The award-winning Bunky, by Marc Newson, is a bunk bed – similar to what lots of us had in our childhood – but with totally funky and playful colours, and the beds can be easily separated, making it very flexible and practical for every family. Now, tell me, how cool is that?

Being surrounded by these smart and cheeky pieces of furniture makes me want to be a kid again, more than ever.
