Collective Inspiration

Creativity should never be a lonesome project. Inspiration is critical, as is constructive criticism. After a long and challenging design process, any design deserves to be visible and get a response from the general public.

The fast paced rhythm of the world continues to increase, with technologies taking over our daily routines.  Fortunately however, craftsmanship has still kept its place of importance, and every year in Paris, the ever so creative interior design industry is celebrated at MAISON&OBJET.  The organisation behind the tradeshow is SAFI, a subsidiary of Ateliers d’Art de France and Reed Expositions France, formed in 1995. In the same year, the inaugural MAISON&OBJET brought together a vast range of daily life inspired art with 1,250 exhibitors and 38,000 visitors.

Their mission today is simple and is definitely an idea worth spreading. They believe that gathering players from the sector together is very important, and also allows users to choose the very best the industry has to offer. It helps to decipher new trends and foresee consumer preferences. Designers are provided with new sources of inspiration. The show also helps to reveal new talent as well as stimulating the market. Most importantly, it promotes creativity and creates value in the industry. It is the perfect atmosphere for achieving their goals and has become one of the must visits for me every year.

This year the concept is also coming to Asia, with the very first MAISON&OBJET ASIA being held at Marina Bay Sands Resort in Singapore from March 10 to 13.

We should never work alone; what’s important is to communicate with people, trying to extend and understand what is crucial. Pushing the boundaries and developing something unique often requires clear understanding and constant development. How can we learn when there are simply no points of reference? We cannot create an industry out of the blue, likewise we cannot learn from emptiness.
