Macau CLOSER joined other local media for a tour of the new Wynn Palace in Cotai today and yesterday.
The $US4 billion property features 1,706 beautiful new rooms, suites and villas, each with unique bespoke design elements and amenities including Wynn signature beds and linens, exclusive bathroom amenities by Molton Brown, Bluetooth audio systems by Bang & Olufsen, touch screen automation control and high speed internet access.
In town for the grand opening on August 22, Mr Steve Wynn shared his vision for the property with local media at a two-hour long press conference.
"This place (Wynn Palace) is built for everybody. Just as every hotel that I have ever done."
"In any hospitality business, there are only two words that matter: guest experience. People who come to this place will have a wonderful time, they will leave and tell their friends, and come back again."
One of the highlights of the new property is undoubtedly the expansive performance lake covering an area of 26,783 square meters and featuring more than 2,114 submersible LED lights illuminating the entire lake in vivid colors. The fountains and lights are choreographed to a range of music and the spectacular shows can be viewed from some of the restaurants, many of the rooms, and from the new SkyCab ride rising 28 metres above.
In terms of fine dining, Wynn Palace will offer a number of amazing new restaurants including Cantonese cuisine at Wing Lei Palace, innovative Chinese at Andrea’s, steak and seafood at SW, and Japanese at Mizumi.
CLOSER had a chance to sample the delicious buffet at Café Fontana, overlooking the Performance Lake and we can say with certainty that this is going to be one of the most popular buffet destinations in town.
The property features a number of other casual dining options, as well more than high-end 50 retail outlets along the Wynn Esplanade, the luxurious The Spa at Wynn Palace, and of course convention facilities and 45,000 square metres of casino.
Throughout Wynn Palace, it is impossible to miss the very prominent floral thematic with spectacular fresh flower displays at every turn. In particular, the North and South Atrium lobbies feature very unique creations, Ferris Wheel and Carousel, each made up of tens of thousands of individual blossoms.
The floral theme culminates in a remarkable sculptural work, 'Tulips', by artist Jeff Koons. A part of Koons’ Celebration series, which he has been working on for more than 20 years, 'Tulips', is one of the largest and most complex examples in the series, produced in high-chromium stainless steel and brought to a high mirror polish in a variety of bold colors.
