Always looking for innovative opportunities to help the local community, Tourism Event Management students from the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT), are organising the “1st Macau Charity Darts Championship” which will be held on May 11 at i Darts in Macau and Mini Bar in Taipa.
The main objective of this event, coordinated by students in their final year of study, is to raise money to donate to the Cradle of Hope Association which provides care and support for babies and children who have experienced the trauma of abandonment, abuse or neglect, and Action Oasis, supporting youth education in China.
While darts has long been popular around the world, particularly in the UK and US, it is a relatively new sport here in Macau. It is often an activity associated with bars, nightclubs, drinking and socialising, but of course, to play it well requires careful calculation, accuracy, a clear mind and a steady hand.
In organising the “1st Macau Charity Darts Championship”, the IFT students also hope to promote the image of darts in the minds of local people, and help them to better appreciate it as more than just a social game, but a genuine sport of skill and accuracy.
The competition is open to all interested parties and will be arranged on a group basis, with teams of two players for the entry level and individual players at the advanced level. The registration fee includes one ticket for the after party event, a ticket for the lucky draw prize, and one free set of darts. So get your eyes focused on the bullseye and come and shoot some darts for charity!
