SJM standing by local businesses

SJM Resorts, S.A. has long been committed to supporting Macau’s SMEs for the growth and diversification of the local economy. As part of its newest efforts, SJM is delighted to unveil the “SJM SME Cooperation Programme”, an initiative that promotes Macau’s home-grown brands. In May 2022, an exciting lineup of retailers have launched at “Made in Macau”, a shopping area located on Level 1 of The Bazaar at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”), which is to become a launchpad for local SMEs to tap into the city’s tourism economy, nurture talents, as well as foster SJM’s partnerships with small businesses in order to enliven Macau’s appeal as a high quality shopping and lifestyle hub.

Ms. Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, remarked, “Rooted in Macau, SJM is the epitome of a “Made in Macau” brand. Therefore, it is near and dear to us, that we go the distance beyond civic duties to champion for fellow local enterprises. In support of government’s economic diversification policies, we have been offering all-round assistance to local SMEs covering ‘Micro Enterprises’, ‘Made in Macau’ and ‘Young Entrepreneurs’, to address their practical needs, especially over the course of the pandemic. Through the “SJM SME Cooperation Programme”, we aim to play an inspiring role in creating an ecosystem conducive to growth for these enterprising lifestyle brands spanning food and beverage, jewellery, and other retail industries. We believe the cluster effect will enhance their visibility and spotlight the merits of their offers. The programme will also lay a foundation for growth for ‘Made in Macau’ brands.”

To date, local brands which have joined the slate at “Made in Macau” include Wong Chi Kei, 853+Concept Store , Counting Stars, Innocent Monkey Club Café, MACCREW, Wabi-Sabi Express and DVM 31⁄2 Chasing Dragon Jewelry. SJM has also partnered with Fuhong Society of Macau to create the “Happy Gift” pop up in the “Made in Macau” shopping area – a creative platform for artisans with disabilities. All proceeds from product sales will be donated to Fuhong Society of Macau and go toward funding art and cultural projects for the disabled.

SJM’s SME programme has opened doors to many new and long-term collaborations with local vendors and helped scale their businesses. At the same time, SJM attaches great importance to the preservation of traditional brands and the cultivation of new ones. Earlier this year, SJM title-sponsored the “Macau Design Award 2021”, and will collaborate with the winner of the “SJM New Talent Award”. These represent SJM’s long term efforts in driving innovation, creativity and small business vitality to enrich the fabrics of the economy.

Going forward, SJM will continue to work in close association with a variety of Macau SMEs and retailers to introduce more exciting events and culturally rich local products. Grand Lisboa Palace will also leverage its network advantage to lead the synergistic collaboration with local businesses to rejuvenate Macau’s economy.
