Despite the challenging business environment this year, a number of new eateries and cafes have been opening up in Coloane Village recently – perhaps because the current travel restrictions have made it one of the most popular places for locals to visit on the weekends! The newest such establishment, Seu Café, is located just off the main roundabout down a small alley.
Opened for business just three months ago, Seu Café has quickly become one of the most popular spots in the village, not just for coffee lovers, but also Instagrammers. Lok Lou, a barista and one of the founders of Seu Café, says the wonderful rooftop area is the main reason they chose this location.
“You can see the entire Coloane Village and Hengqin from up there,” Lok points out. “We recently refurbished the area to make it safer because our customers love to climb all the way up on the tile roof to take photos. We have added some bar tables around and canopy awnings for a safer and comfier environment.”
Customers can also enjoy a coffee and snack at the bar downstairs, or sit just outside to enjoy the cooler Autumn air.
Lok notes that they prepare the food and beverages themselves since they want to provide what’s best for their customers.
“The name Seu Café is Portuguese,” Lok explains. “It means ‘your coffee’. We hope to bring something special to Macau people.”
Seu Café’s signature drink is lemon coffee, and not many coffee shops in Macau can make a better one than they do.
“People have been coming back here just for ourlemon coffee,” Lok says. “They love our scallop & shrimpnbread too. Another customer favorite is our limited lobster bread, which is only available on Saturdays and Sundays.”
And even though space is quite limited inside, Lok and his partners have dedicated a small corner area in the café for music lovers. Customers can pick up the guitar and sing if they feel confident. Professional singers also come to sing regularly.
“We want to bring more dining options to Coloane.” Lok explains. “That’s why we are looking into adding more new food on our menu in the near future.”
And just in case you were wondering, the adorable cartoon chef on Seu Café’s logo is based on one of their business partners!
