Paris Arrives

by

The Parisian Macao finally opened its doors to visitors at 8:18 pm on September 13.  The newest addition to the Sands Cotai Strip and Sands' global resort empire, The Parisian Macao seeks to manifest the unique and artistic architecture of the French capital of Paris as authentically as possible.

The new integrated resort features around 3,000 guestrooms and suits, convention and meeting space, international restaurants, kids' club, pool deck with themed water park, and a 1,200-seat theatre and entertainment venue.

The Parisian Macao is the last major resort for Sands on the Cotai Strip. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Las Vegas Sands, Sheldon Adelson'ssaid his vision for the Cotai Strip came to him in a dream.

Speaking at a press conference on the opening Day, Mr Adelson expressed his optimism about the future of Macau. He also thinks The Parisian will be one of the two thematic hotels that people in Asia will be most excited to see.

Meanwhile, Sands China President Wilfred Wong believes that The Parisian Macao will create "a dynamic force that will draw more people to Macau".

“The Cotai Strip has become one of the world’s greatest tourism marvels,” said Mr. Adelson is his opening speech. “Before our very eyes, Macao is making a similar transition to the one it took Las Vegas decades to make, evolving from a destination only suited for gaming customers, to an environment which still provides a safe and reputable gaming experience, but also offers a wide variety of activities, attractions and amenities for people of all backgrounds, income levels and interests.”

"I’m tremendously proud and honored that our company made such a bold commitment to Macao and I will be forever grateful to the people of Macao and its leaders for the support they have shown us since even before we opened the Sands Macao in 2004,” he added.

Last night's opening celebration included a spectacular pyrotechnics and lightshow at The Parisian Macao’s half-scale authentic recreation of the Eiffel Tower, now a prominent feature on the Cotai skyline. The highlight of the entertainment program was a performance by multi-award-winning Belgian singer Lara Fabian, who made her Macau debut.

In keeping with tradition, a lion dance was an essential part of the day’s earlier events, and the evening of festivities concluded with a gala dinner featuring a performance by Hong Kong actress and pop star Karen Mok.

The opening celebration continues the following day with a fashion show at Shoppes at Parisian, and with an additional series of consumer fashion shows and in-store events on September 15 and 16.
