Last month, Mercedes-Benz launched the highly anticipated new S-Class in Hong Kong, at an exclusive launch party under an impressive 60-metre transparent marquee at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal.
President and CEO of Mercedes- Benz Hong Kong Ltd Andrew Binder noted that Hong Kong is the first market to launch the S-Class outside of Europe.
Local diva Sally Yeh also added glamour to the event, performing her repertoire of songs against the backdrop of the city’s glittering waterfront.
Combining three engineering priorities: “Intelligent Drive”, “Efficient Technology” and “Essence of Luxury”, the new S-Class once again raises the bar and sets new standards across the board.
Two models make up the range available in Hong Kong and Macau: The S 400 HYBRID and the S 500. The S 500 features a powerful 4.6-litre, 455hp V8 engine, while the S 400 HYBRID comes with a 3.5-litre, 306hp V6 combined with a 20kW electric motor. The hybrid version achieves an impressive 6.3 litres/100 km fuel consumption rating.
The technology underlying the new S-Class is arguably some of the most impressive ever scene from any luxury car manufacturer, with advanced and enhanced versions of virtually all Mercedes-Benz safety, driver assist and entertainment systems.
The new S-Class is also the first car ever made with no standard light bulbs. Only LEDs have been used, almost 500 in total, 300 just for the interior ambient lighting.
Other impressive optional luxury features include a 250GB navigation hard disk, a 24-speaker Burmester sound system, four LCD screens for front and rear passengers, and even a reclining rear seat with hot stone massage function!
