Joker’s Barbershop & Grooming

by
Located in the culturally rich Taipa Village, Joker’s Barbershop & Grooming is dedicated to offering cool and trendy hairstyling for customers, and manifests a unique mix of classic retro and modernity.

Traditionally, barbershops are places where gentlemen can shape their own classic and premium identities, and unlike normal hair salons, Joker’s Barbershop & Grooming specializes in modern pompadour styling for gentlemen – a volumous, slicked back look on top, with short back and sides.

The shop is managed by three co-partners, Jet, Ming and Maurice. Jet and Ming are skillful in British pompadour hairstyling, with classic long brushed back and clear-cut lines. Meanwhile, Maurice is an expert on American pompadour styles, which are distinguished by their clean, rugged and sharp cut features – a reflection of rustic street styles.

“We help customers design suitable hairstyles for themselves, depending on their preferences, how they want to take care of the style, what they normally wear to work, etc. If they wear a suit to work, then a pompadour is a perfect choice. People may have the impression that a pompadour is hard to take care of, but that’s not true. If you know the trick, you can do it within ten minutes,” laughs Ming.

“In addition to pompadours, we also offer special designs – shaving various patterns on the side of the head to make it special for every customer,” he adds.

The three co-partners appreciate the unique atmosphere inside Taipa Village, which blends with the concept of Joker’s Barbershop & Grooming, in sustaining traditions with a modern twist. Inside the shop, every single detail, from the sofa to the ashtrays, hair cutters, hair wax and treatment oils, genuinely reflect the pursuit of exquisite and old-school styles.

Since opening last September, Joker’s Barbershop & Grooming has been seeing a steady increase in the number of customers.

“More and more people in Macau are getting to like pompadours. Next, we’ll consider teaching courses to discuss with more people,” says Ming.
