In celebration of Mid-Autumn, Grand Lisboa Hotel is introducing three new and inventive mooncake flavours that draw inspiration from fragrant osmanthus flowers to the refreshing tropical fruits of durian and pineapple. All three of the new mini mooncake collections are presented in stylish, yet sustainable ‘Treasure Box of The Moon’ designed exclusively for Grand Lisboa by Au Chon Hin, recipient of the “SJM New Talent Award” at the Macau Design Award 2021.
The three mini mooncake gift sets on offer at the hotel’s Michelin 3-starred Chinese restaurant – The 8 – include The 8 Osmanthus White Lotus Seed Paste with Egg Yolk Mini Mooncakes; The 8 Durian Custard Mini Mooncakes and The 8 Low Sugar Pineapple Custard Mini Mooncakes. Each thoughtfully crafted mini mooncake is made with a healthy dose of all-natural, premium ingredients. The 8 Osmanthus White Lotus Seed Paste with Egg Yolk Mini Mooncakes are infused with fragrant osmanthus tea and a generous portion of pure, unbleached white lotus paste that is low in sugar. As Mid-Autumn coincides with the durian season, The 8 Durian Custard Mini Mooncakes feature fresh-from-the-harvest durians packed with vitamins and rich in nutrients. Baked until a beautiful golden-brown, The 8 Low Sugar Pineapple Custard Mini Mooncakes are filled with juicy pineapple paste and just as the name suggests – are low in sugar.
Award-winning designer Au Chon Hin and his team at Untitled Macao are the creative thinkers behind this year’s stylishly sustainable “Treasure Box of the Moon” gift sets. Inspired by the iconic goldfish at The 8, the design illustrates the graceful movement of the fish with rippling effects and vibrant, multi-colour patterns. They magically bring the goldfish to life by creating an illusion of the fish swimming towards a round goldfish tank – symbolic of the Mid-Autumn moon. Entirely designed with sustainability in mind, each gift box resembles a stylish treasure box that can be repurposed for any other occasion. Beyond the sustainably designed packaging, Grand Lisboa also partnered with Chazence, the sustainable engineering team from Macau, to create sustainable cutlery placed within the mooncake gift sets. As an alternative to plastic utensils, Chazence uses recycled tea leaves with its eco-innovation patented techniques to produce the tea-fibres-based material, which is fully biodegradable, encouraging environmentally-conscious habits.
