Sheraton Grand Macao officially launches its new venue, The Conservatory on July 30, 2021. The Conservatory is an eclectic food and beverage venue containing three distinct experiences – a Cantonese restaurant and tea room, a candy and confectionery store and a British pub and restaurant, have all been accommodated in this lively space.
The Conservatory draws inspiration from London’s classical architecture and contemporary urban lifestyle, with food and beverages available at any time during the day. The Tea Room offering grab-and-go from breakfast till late connects Three Bottles, a Londonesque pub and restaurant to Chaan, a nostalgic Cantonese kitchen serving all your favorite noodles and dumplings. The Sweet Shop is a sugar lover’s paradise with traditional British-inspired sweets, cakes and lollies, perfect for occasions and gift giving.
The menus have been designed to create a harmonious connection between the three experiences, enabling guests to satisfy their cravings whether for traditional Cantonese fare, western classics, sweet confections or a crafted cocktail. The shared space with cuisines from the East and West is ideal for intimate gatherings amongst family and friends. The Conservatory truly represents Sheraton brand’s promise of a place ‘Where the world comes together.’
Janet McNab, Multi-Property Vice President of Sheraton Grand Macao and The St. Regis Macao said The Conservatory is a one of a kind venue where guests can experience three dining experiences under one roof. “Whether you are craving for traditional Cantonese, western classics or sweet treats, The Conservatory has something for everyone.” she added.
Three Bottles
A contemporary take on the classic British pub and restaurant but with a twist. Three Bottles delights guests with a mouthwatering range of traditional English sweet and savory fare, highlighted by contemporary breakfast sets, signature afternoon tea options, the comforting flavours and aromas of a fresh bakery, alongside an extensive menu of craft beers on tap and cocktails served all day long. Guests can take a seat in the comfort of the stylishly appointed lounge overlooking the Shakespeare’s Hall. As the sun sets, Three Bottles is the perfect meeting place for classic cocktails with a twist. Guests are spoilt for choice with the vast selection of British classics with a twist such as beer battered fish and chips with mushy peas and yoghurt tartar, potato, comté and onion pie, 72-hour slow cooked beef short rib, Cotai midnight sandwich with raclette cheese, Keen’s cheddar pie and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice-cream and honeycomb, to name a few.
The story of ‘Three Bottles’ has its origins dating back to former British Prime Minister, William Pitt from the 1700s who was renowned for carrying around three bottles of liquor in his pocket. Heralded throughout history as one of the great men of politics, he was also a heroic drinker.
Three Bottles takes reference from the traditional London pub. The backbar has a contemporary take on the classic pub vibe, with a variety of bottles both modern and aged which form an elegant and whimsical display. The saloon type end room continues to nod towards the colonial heritage with the use of rattan on the furniture and a contemporary use of caning to wall panels, while celebrating more classical details on the bottle display cabinet joinery and mural painting that adorns the ceiling.
Chaan
Chaan, an upscale spin on the traditional neighbourhood ‘Cha Chaan Teng’. Chaan, meaning ‘meal’, features a selection of traditional Cantonese comfort food including handcrafted noodles, flavor-packed dumplings and heartwarming congee available throughout the day. Guests can enjoy their meal facing the live kitchen to watch the mastery of the chefs demonstrating the art of crafting fresh noodles by hand and shaping intricate dumplings of various shapes and fillings. Chaan’s signatures include handmade ‘Suijiao’ – boiled dumplings filled with beef, cumin and coriander, or pork and mushrooms, braised beef brisket and tendon noodles in deep and dark spiced broth, fresh crab congee and the locally inspired stone bowl Angus beef hor fan and many more.
The Sweet Shop
Overlooking Shakespeare’s Hall is The Sweet Shop, which exhibits a variety of handmade candies and sweet treats. Inspired by old school London sweet shops that became so popular during the Victorian era, The Sweet Shop showcases a vast variety of sweets that are on offer, sitting in traditional glass sweet jars. Perfect for gift giving and keepsakes. Adults and kids alike will rejoice in the ice cream cart serving different flavors of icy delights while a range of luscious cakes can be pre-ordered and customised for any occasion. The T-cup cheesecake is definitely the most iconic dessert found at The Sweet Shop. You can choose to have one inside the restaurant over a cup of tea or you can take home a few with you to share with family and friends.
The Tea Room
Tea plays such an important role in both Chinese and British traditions and for this reason, the Tea Room represents the ‘center’ of The Conservatory’s three venues, connecting all the spaces together. The Tea Room specialises in premier Chinese teas, Western and contemporary tea blends. Guests can appreciate the ritual of their tea being brewed in front of them, while ordering one of the freshly baked old-time Chinese buns as well as typical Western bakeries, including Bolo Cha Siu Bao, Spicy Sardine Bun and many more choices for eat in or take away.
Afternoon Tea
A contemporary take on this cornerstone of British tradition, The Conservatory serves an Afternoon Tea set daily from 3 pm to 6 pm. Savoury delights include the house smoked salmon and tuna tartare, poached chicken and seared foie gras puff followed with the classic British summer sweets such as Summer Berry Pudding and Strawberry Charlotte Royale, a wickedly rich dessert of genoise sponge cake, strawberry bavarois and jelly. Guests can also indulge in different ‘Cream Tea’ sets featuring a selection of English scones and delectable cakes for the perfect accompaniment to their coffee or tea selections.
