In celebration of Macau’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and in support of the Macau Government Tourism Office’s implementation of the 2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy, Broadway Macau proudly introduces its first-ever Local Culture & Food Festival. Kicking off on Friday, 11 May and running until Sunday, 27 May, the Local Culture & Food Festival is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for visitors and Macau residents to experience over 150 traditional specialties at Broadway Food Street, highlighting Macau’s distinctive East-meets-West gastronomic culture.
Showcasing Macau’s unique culinary culture, passed along from generation to generation, the Local Culture & Food Festival presents freshly prepared dishes at over 50 hawker stalls from popular Broadway Macau restaurants to limited-time pop-up brands. Visitors and locals alike are warmly invited to come and enjoy the huge array of authentic choices which illustrate the unique heritage and flavors of Macau cuisine; along with electrifying live performances and fun activities that get the whole family involved.
The hawker stalls for Local Culture & Food Festival at Broadway Macau will include, Wong Kun Sio Kung, a Michelin Plate restaurant, San Zhan Deng Fung Kei, a popular Macau hawker since 1985, among others.
In addition to the hawker stalls erected exclusively for the Local Culture & Food Festival, visitors can also enjoy local Macau choices at over 40 Broadway Macau restaurants, including the Michelin Plate restaurants – Katong Corner, Du Hsiao Yueh and Dragon Portuguese Cuisine.
There will also be up-close-and-personal performances at Broadway Food Street every day from 6:30pm, which includes nightly live entertainment, free tastings and cooking demonstrations from award-winning chefs. The award-winning chefs will also conduct cooking workshops with students from the Institute for Tourism Studies and members of the Fuhong Society of Macau. Additionally, the Macau Deaf Association will promote sign language for food at Broadway Food Street during the event.
