If you go and stand at the bottom of Macau Tower, apart from hearing the occasional screams of bungee jumpers from above, you will now also be surrounded by the sounds of Bavarian music and the sweet smell of the roasted German crispy pig’s knuckle.
The German beer restaurant German Bräuhaus opened at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre two months ago and serves its patrons an assortment of authentic beers, as well as special dishes such as roasted pig’s knuckle and different types of German sausages.
The restaurant’s director, Abel sees Macau as a diverse city with a flourishing tourism industry, and therefore, his company came up with the idea of opening a restaurant with Paulaner – the most popular beer brand in Germany – as the theme. The restaurant offers dishes that use Paulaner beer as an ingredient, as well as cocktails with beer as their base.
“We want to bring something new to people here; a place with a great environment to enjoy dinner and some live entertainment,” says Abel.
For entertainment, the themed restaurant has set up a stage for live music performances. Abel says that since they want to help with the cultural development of Macau, the restaurant invites local bands to perform there around three to four nights a week.
Abel adds that he is very satisfied with choosing Macau Tower as the location for the restaurant because of its appeal to tourists, which gives the restaurant a more diverse customer pool. But the major reason has to be the unmatched sea views that are the front row seat to the city’s fireworks shows.
He believes their restaurant’s outdoor area is the best spot in town to enjoy the firework displays, and this month the restaurant is offering a special fireworks set menu.
The restaurant is also preparing for its Oktoberfest events that it will host on the weekends during October. After Oktoberfest, the restaurant is planning to roll out a Paulaner beer festival in November, to coincide with the Macau Food Festival that will take place in the plaza opposite Macau Tower.
