Galaxy Entertainment Group opened its doors to the highly anticipated and greatly expanded Galaxy Macau resort and the brand new Broadway Macau last month. The opening marks HK$43 billion of a HK$100 billion planned investment by the group in the territory, as well as being the first major resort opening in Macau since 2012.
The grand opening was officiated by Dr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of Macau Special Administrative Region and Mr. Edmund Ho, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, as well as 3,000 guests and celebrities, including reigning Miss Universe from Columbia, Paulina Vega Dieppa, Canto pop legend Andy Hui, popular artist Chi-lam Cheung and singer Linda Wong.
At the grand opening ceremony, Dr. Lui Che-woo, Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, said: “Being a Chinese company, GEG is rooted in Macau. We are committed to nurturing local talent and promoting local culture to support the economy.”
The unveiling of Galaxy Macau and Broadway Macau’s new attractions are attune to the changing needs of the market. Galaxy Macau now offers six world-class hotels in one resort, providing close to 4,000 rooms, suites and villas and two spas: The Ritz-Carlton’s first All-Suite hotel; Asia’s largest JW Marriott, JW Marriott Hotel Macau with over 1,000 rooms; Broadway Hotel offering 320 rooms; complimented by three other award-winning hotels: Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau and Galaxy Hotel.
The Grand Resort Deck has been expanded to 75,000 square meters and now features the world’s longest Skytop Aquatic Adventure River Ride at 575 meters, the world’s largest Skytop Wave Pool, a 350-ton white sand beach and water attractions including waterslides, beach lagoons, waterfalls and a kid’s zone.
Broadway Macau, adjoining Galaxy Macau is a street and entertainment district with live entertainers and street-style vendors serving local cuisine and souvenirs. It is home to 40 F&B outlets, with the majority being locally owned and operated, plus 20 retail stores with many specializing in typical Macanese treats.
The new Broadway Theatre offers a venue with nearly 3,000 seats and an adaptable stage capable of hosting a variety of shows, events and sports tournaments as well as a private lounge.
The Promenade, at over 1,000,000 square meters of retail space, connects Galaxy Macau Phase 1 and Phase 2 and features over 200 luxury and lifestyle retail brands including over 30 first-to-Macau brands as well as a mixture of designer boutiques and high-street lifestyle brands.
And of course no such expansion would be complete without world-class dining options; over 120 outlets offering authentic pan-Asian and many local cuisines and eight Michelin standard restaurant brands, of which many are first to Macau.
Mr. Kevin Clayton, Chief Marketing Officer of Galaxy Entertainment Group, summed the group’s ambitions up succinctly saying: “This opening marks not only a new chapter in the remarkable growth story of Galaxy Entertainment Group but also of Macau, as we celebrate the culmination of a decade-long plan and vision to deliver the most spectacular entertainment and leisure destination in the world”.
