Jointly organized by the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the Macau Fashion Festival 2015 was held at the 20th International Trade and Investment Fair between October 22 and 25. During the Festival, local fashion talents showcased their designed-in-Macau originality to the world, enhancing the reputation of Macau’s fashion design industry in the region.
The aims of the Festival are to creative platforms to promote the Macau Fashion industry, encourage fashion trading and strengthen the ties between the Macau fashion industry and its external markets, especially exchanges with fashion industry practitioners in Asia.
This year, the Macau Fashion Festival featured six professional fashion shows, one fashion seminar, 14 fashion designer showcases and a fashion style exhibition area.
For every edition of the Festival, the organizers have invited a number of talented and notable fashion designers. This year, four renowned fashion designers attended the opening of the Festival: Tom Dong from Mainland China, Yen-Lin Hsu from Taiwan, Harrison Wong from Hong Kong, and Robert Lai from Macau.
One of the highlights of this year’s Festival was the Graduation Show of the CPTTM 2014/2015 Diploma Programme for Fashion Design and Manufacturing. Graduating students used what they learnt during their 18-month academic programme to create a five-piece collection for the Graduation Show.
In the end, it was Summer Cheong Pek Hoi’s design, which was inspired by a lighting show she saw, that won First prize and the Best Color Coordination Award in the Graduation Show. Kerena Lau Mei Yan and Eunice Cheong Sio Fun won the second and third prizes respectively.
