The Faces of Fine Dining

by

Diversification is a word that gets thrown around a lot in this town, but how to make a small city like Macau about anything other than gaming?  Well, if there is one other area that has seen a tremendous transformation in recent years, it is certainly dining. And not just any dining, but some of the very best fine dining in the region.

For a city of just over 600,000 people and some 30 square kilometres, Macau has 16 Michelin starred restaurants and plenty more that offer amazing eating experiences, star or no star.

And behind every amazing dish, there is a talented and passionate chef working their magic in the kitchen.

In this month’s Closer Look we seek out some of the very best chefs working here in Macau.  (Of course there are many more than the nine featured in these pages, but we need to save some for future stories).

We speak to these culinary artisans about their beginnings in the industry, their inspirations, challenges, proudest achievements and of course how they feel about the dining scene here in the city.

Interestingly, all these great chefs discovered their passion for food at a very early age, and all agree that the greatest reward is simply pleasing guests with their delicious creations.
