There is something irresistibly alluring and exotic about the elegance and romance of Shanghai in the 1930’s, and now one club in Macau captures that vogue like no other, the very exclusive CHINA ROUGE at Galaxy MacauTM. A stream of glamorous VIP guests from Macau and Hong Kong strutted the red carpet on the evenings of March 30 and 31 as the grand opening celebrations for this sophisticated new club took place over two dazzling nights.
“Galaxy Macau is once again breaking new ground with CHINA ROUGE”, said Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group. “There’s nothing else to compare it to in Southern China. We call CHINA ROUGE our forbidden chamber, in part for its exotic ambience, and in part because only the selected few will be able to explore its offerings”.
The decadent, members-only performance lounge blends iconic elements of East and West, traditional and contemporary, drawing its inspiration from 1930’s era Shanghai mystique, seductive Parisian cabarets of the 1880’s and renowned Art Deco styles.
The man behind the impressive concept for CHINA ROUGE is Alan Chan, one of Asia’s most celebrated designers and brand consultants. Chan has truly explored his fascination for this time period, incorporating strong visual statements, intricate details and vivid colours, together with a clear emphasis on the provocative beauty and sensuality of the female form.
“Women in 1930’s Shanghai were impressive to look at. In their honour, the CHINA ROUGE interior design contains many feminine elements that make the whole concept more attractive. The club takes its name from females of that time, as the colour red relates to women”, explains Chan.
As selected guests enter the club, the sense of intrigue and indulgence are immediately apparent, with the lavish interior complemented by a stunning variety of artworks, created by some of China’s leading artists, commissioned exclusively for the club. Delving deeper into the heart of CHINA ROUGE, guests venture through a number of smaller ‘chambers’, each with its own artistic theme and motifs from traditional to impressionistic, Art Deco to highly contemporary.
The club also offers a fine array of cuisine, champagnes and wines and signature drinks, to be enjoyed in the intimate bar and lounge area, or in the impressive show room complete with an opulent VIP mezzanine level.
And of course any club infused with the spirit of early twentieth century Paris and Shanghai would not be complete without live entertainment. On stage in the show room guests will be captivated by high energy musical performances ranging from pop and rock to jazz and contemporary Chinese, combined with Tango, Samba, burlesque and even martial arts inspired dance routines.
The latest addition to Galaxy Macau’s entertainment offering is a classy blend of luxury, art, entertainment and technology that will undoubtedly catch the attention of discerning VIP clientele.
