In August, local designer Nicole Tam, founder of ANtitled, was all set to unveil her latest eco-friendly outfit to visitors at the 2021 MIECF (Macau International Environmental Co-Operation Forum and Exhibition) at the Venetian Macao. However, the format of the event had to be changed at the last minute due to Covid – a scenario we are becoming all too familiar with unfortunately. Nonetheless, the organisers pushed on with a number of the planned events, taking them online instead.
“The business matching activities were held online via Zoom meetings due to the pandemic. I have been attending Zoom meetings for all the fashion seminars, activities and tradeshows since the pandemic started in 2020,” notes Nicole.
Her latest collection, entitled SUSTAIN, is the first B2C workwear product made with certified OEKO-TEX sustainable undyed textile materials, which reduce further environmental impact after being purchased by customers. The innovative materials are proven to reduce emissions and reduce water consumption compared to traditional textiles. The garment construction allows breathability and skin-friendly finishes when it’s worn.

“The concept of the collection is to provide low-impact and easy-care solutions for busy young professionals and entrepreneurs. I wanted to create an exclusive season-less and timeless clothing line with a minimalist approach for the global citizen who is conscious about self-wellness and the climate crisis,” Nicole explains.
The designer also took inspiration from a quote by President Xi Jinping, which she saw while travelling in Zhejiang province in November last year…“Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.”
“The quote was engraved on a stele at the gates of the Yucun village to welcome tourists,” says Nicole. “I was inspired by this as I want to create a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature through my creations.”
A graduate of Hong Kong PolyU Master’s Degree program in Art Fashion and Textiles (Global Fashion Management), Nicole established ANtitled in 2015 with a mission to provide timeless design concepts and sustainable end-to-end solutions to accommodate fast-changing clientele.
“I worked with Sands China – The Londoner’s uniform program after graduating from the Sands Procurement Academy 2018, and I was excited to see the press photos of the Ambassador team who wore our uniform collection at the first phase of The Londoner Macao opening in 2020.”
And despite the challenges of the current business environment, Nicole is still hoping to grow her business over the next 12 months.
“I have been a member of The Macau Shenzhen Economic and Cultural Promotion Association since 2016. This platform provides good opportunities, exposure, and collaborations for local brands and companies to enter Mainland China, so I am planning to expand the business to Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area,” she notes.
ANtitled’s corporate clients have included Sands China Ltd., Wynn Macau Ltd., Shun Tak Holdings Ltd., Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd., Melco Resorts & Entertainment, Suncity Group, Tak Chun Group, Bank of China, CTT Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, and Macau Anglican College.
Nicole has also won a number of awards at uniform design competitions held by Melco Resorts and Entertainment, Grand Lisboa Palace, Suncity Group, Tak Chun Group, CTT Macao Post, and Telecommunications Bureau. She also represented Macau and received the Excellence Award at the Dalian Cup International Youth Fashion Design Contest in 2018.
