It’s October, and that means it’s once again time to put on your lederhosens, kick your knees up and down a lot of steins.
MGM Macau is bringing its sixth Oktoberfest to town, this time hosting the event in cooperation with the Macau Government Tourist Office, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hong Kong and the German Macau Business Association.
With an increasing number of guests attending each year, MGM Macau has expanded the floor space of the festival by setting up VIP cabanas at the poolside area to provide guests with a more private and lush experience.
This eleven-day beerfest captures the essence of Bavarian festivities with authentic German beer, live entertainment and a party atmosphere. Furnished with classic long wooden tables and benches under a 25-meter-long tent, the venue will come alive every day from from 6pm till midnight, October 15 to 25, with the clinking of beer mugs and the sounds of traditional accordion and oompah music, courtesy of the Högl Fun Band, flown in all the way from Germany. Not too mention the beautiful beer maids in their dirndls!
Since the first edition of MGM Macau’s Oktoberfest, more than 55,000 guests have been served 51,186 liters of beer, 11,282 kilograms of pork knuckles and 4,650 meters of sausage.
Beer is of course the essence of any Oktoberfest, and this year’s festival will be pouring out one of only six brews that is regarded as the genuine Oktoberfest beer – Spaten from Munich. First brewed in 1872, the beer features a rich, textured palate with an underlying sweetness that is true to tradition. Besides Spaten, guests can also enjoy Bobeline Blanche Fraise, a beer made with strawberries, and Warsteiner, a non-alcoholic beer, as well as feasting on bratwurst sausages, roasted free range chicken, roasted pork knuckles and other German specialties.
Entrance fee: MOP120 per person, inclusive of one drink.
