“This year’s selections are testament to Hong Kong and Macau’s unwavering position as benchmark cities in the gas- tronomic world, where tradition and modernity can co-exist in a dynamic and delicious blend of authenticity and ambitious innovation,” said Gwendal Poullennec, the International Direc- tor of MICHELIN Guides.

With the latest edition of the guide, Hong Kong now has seven restaurants recognised with the MICHELIN Guide’s highest rating of three stars, including Caprice, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Lung King Heen, 81⁄2 Otto e Mezzo – Bombana and T’ang Court. The most prominent debut from Macau in the guide this year, with two stars, is Sichuan Moon at Macau’s Wynn Palace, a modern Sichuan restaurant fronted by Taiwanese chef André Chiang and run by Malaysian Executive chef Zor Tan. And over in Wynn Macau, Cantonese fine-dining restaurant Wing Lei, which already boasted one star in last year’s edition, gained a second star this year under the leadership of Cantonese chef Chan Tak Kwong, who has been with the restaurant since its pre-opening in 2006. With this new addition, Macau now has seven two-starred establishments in total.

Its top rated Feng Wei Ju at StarWorld Hotel maintained its two-Michelin star rating for the fourth year in a row, with its tantalizing Sichuan and Hunan cuisines.

The Venetian Macao’s The Golden Peacock Indian restaurant retained its one-star rating for the seventh year in a row. The first Indian restaurant in Asia to be awarded a Michelin star, The Golden Peacock is led by Kerala native and Senior Chef Justin Paul, who has headed a team of 15 chefs since it opened in 2013.

And Four Seasons Hotel Macao celebrated its signature Cantonese restaurant, Zi Yat Heen, receiving a one-star rating for the 11th consecutive year, headed by Executive Chinese Chef Charles Cheung.
