In recent years, Macau has developed rapidly in various fields such as tourism, recreation, technology, exhibitions and services. To keep up the pace, the Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association (MGEMA) has hosted the MGS Entertainment Show (MGS) for the past five years, aiming at bringing opportunities to the industry through technology, services and products provided by exhibitors, while at the same time offering them support services and a quality business network platform to achieve mutual benefit.
From November 13 to 15, the 6th MGS Entertainment Show will be held at The Venetian Macao offering exhibitors and visitors a great opportunity to network and explore the lastest products and innovations. The show will also contribute to the promotion of leisure technology development in Macau.
Jointly organized by Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association, Nam Kwong Culture And Creativity Industry Co., Ltd. and China National Machinery Industry International Co., Ltd., the show will once again be a platform for sharing gaming, entertainment, technology and leisure to enable industry professionals from all over the world to exchange ideas and create unlimited business opportunities.
“MGS has developed as one of the most advanced and innovative exhibitions of entertainment products in the Asia-Pacific region,” says Jay Chun, Chairman of MGEMA. “It integrates elements such as gaming equipment, technology, Integrated Resorts, environmental protection, fire safety, fashion and cultural creativity and service industries, contributing positively to Macau’s entertainment industry, information technology and development of local creative industries.
“In 2017, the Greater Bay Area Initiative started a new phase of regional cooperation in trade, culture, creativity, technology and tourism among the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area’s city cluster, providing favorable conditions for the transformation of MGS towards technology and leisure,” Mr Chun adds.
The MGS Entertainment Show will focus on leisure technology, fashion and creative industries, eSports, gaming equipment, integrated resorts, procurement fairs and security systems, while the“MGS Summit 2018” will mainly discuss the opportunities of Japanese integrated resorts, the potential for emerging markets and the future of gaming equipment production.
The “Global Digital and Entertainment Future Summit 2018” will discuss topics such as planting game IPs into entertainment facilities, blockchain and the development of electronic entertainment and eSports. Research indicates that AR will be a more prevalent technology by 2020, and the market scale could even reach over US$100 billion. Previous MGS Entertainment Shows exhibited many related idea exchanges and exhibitions, thus gaining recognition in the global market.
Blockchain is another technology that has captured people’s attention recently. Besides the application of virtual currency, it can be applied to the fields of medical treatment, food markets, cross-border remittances and so on, therefore generating more business opportunities.
Through the promotion and use of blockchain, Macau will become a smart city with rapid economic growth. The MGS Entertainment Show provides excellent communication channels for relevant business organizations, bringing Macau’s technology industry to an entirely new level.
High-technology smart services are indispensable in resort development, and the growing idea of ‘Internet of Things’ is an important part of this. Through the technology of RFID, all devices and objects can be connected via the Internet, and that in turn will help improve services. One of the applications is to link goods on the Internet so users can pay for them with electronic wallets. It is estimated that by 2020, more than 10 billion items, with a gross value of over USD1 trillion, will be connected.
Apart from the potential of the ‘Internet of Things’, MGS is also interested in the huge market of entertainment, particularly e-sports and cross-disciplinary entertainment facilities. Some game developers are already inserting IPs of well-known games, such as their characters, into entertainment facilities. This not only improves the attractiveness of the facilities, but also presents great business opportunities. Many major game developers, such as KONAMI, SEGA and Cyanide Studios, which made Game of Thrones, are proactively planting game IPs into entertainment facilities and launching game-rated products.
Finally, Sina will hold the “Sina Global Digital and Entertainment Future Summit 2018” during the MGS event this year for three days, and present the “2018 Gaming Industry Innovation Awards”.
