Yves Etienne Sonolet is a French visual artist born in Paris. He moved to Macau several years ago, and is now working as a visiting professor at the University of Macau.

A day with a meaningful experience and time to think it over.
– If you could go back in time to any event in history, what would it be?
The fall of the Berlin wall.
– What’s your favorite book?
Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

“The Black Mirror” a chilling British series mixing speculative fiction with contemporary issues.
– Who is your hero?
The Monkey King.
– What can always cheer you up when you having a bad day?
Exchanging smiles with a charming stranger.
– What’s your worst habit?
Trying to learn Cantonese and Mandarin at the same time.
– If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
What a terrible idea! Repetition is Hell!
– If you could travel to any place on earth, where would you go?
Go to Heaven for the climate and to Hell for the company.
-If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?
I would have to start working before that day.
– What’s your favourite season or festival?
In Macau anything but Summer. In Europe I enjoyed a few years in a row the Sonar festival in Barcelona, experimental music outdoors without too many crowds.
– What’s your favourite place in Macau?
A fisherman’s hideout on the waterfront in Coloane, looking at the rocks and the sea – the view out there is timeless.
