In the heart of the historical district of Macau is the beautiful oasis of Sofitel Macau’s pool, where you can truly forget that you are just minutes from the bustling city centre. If you are a member then you can enjoy a dip, but even if you aren’t, you can still have a great summer meal poolside at La Terrace.
Executive Sous Chef Guarav Malhotra arrived from Mumbai, India last year after opening Sofitel’s flagship property there, so he knows all about the best food to eat on a hot summer’s day.
“The main focus for La Terrace’s menu is comfort food so people can sit and relax and enjoy something light and fresh and not too heavy,” he says.
For appetizers, Chef Guarav recommends the Caprese (tomato and buffalo mozzarella with fresh basil). For a light main course, try the Spaghetti Aglio Olio Peperonata with Shrimps – with grilled shrimps and a sprinkling of chilli flakes, garlic and olive oil. And being a French hotel, a meal wouldn’t be complete without some Macaroons.
“We have lots of flavours like green tea, lemon, orange, lavender, very fresh flavours, and we make them into loliopops so its easy to eat and fun.” La Terrace is open to the public from 11am to 8pm.
