How your donations help

Oxfam, established in 1976, is a worldwide development organisation that mobilises the power of people against poverty. In February 2012 Oxfam set up its Macau office to further support the organisation’s poverty alleviation efforts.

Oxfam works with poor people and partners to improve their lives through humanitarian relief, disaster mitigation measures, community-based development and advocacy work on local, national and international levels to ensure positive, effective and lasting changes.

Thanks to donors in Hong Kong and Macau, Oxfam was able to support 932 projects, including 341 new ones, with country-specific projects in 29 locations. In total, we spent HK$212 million on our projects. We uphold the values of transparency and accountability and make the best use of every dollar donated to build a world free of poverty.

With the urbanisation of China, the number of left-behind children has only increased. Currently, there are more than 60 million left-behind children in the Mainland. By taking part in the Oxfam Towerrun, you can improve their lives through the educational support and assistance we provide.
