In an effort to address ongoing public health challenges surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, Sands China Ltd. has pledged to donate MOP 25 million to help contain the spread of the virus and to assist with relief efforts in mainland China and Macao.

The donation includes MOP 20 million – made in coordination with the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao – to assist the mainland in its efforts to combat the virus, and another MOP 5 million to support the local community in implementing preventive measures.

“Las Vegas Sands has always considered it an honor to do business in Macao, while at the same time recognizing and embracing our important role as a community partner, especially in challenging times such as these,” said Mr. Sheldon Adelson, chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands and Sands China Ltd.  “We strongly support Macao and mainland China in their efforts to contain the coronavirus and protect their citizens. It’s been our experience that people in Macao and mainland China are strong and resilient and those traits will undoubtedly be needed in the days to come. We will certainly do everything we can to help return things to normal as quickly as possible.”

Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd., said: “Our thoughts and concerns are with those immediately affected by this terrible virus. We are determined to support the central government and the Macao SAR government in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak. Providing financial resources in support of this effort is a responsibility our company takes without hesitation, and we hope this donation will help ensure that assistance is given to those in need.”
