by
Kelsey Wilhelm is a musician, actor, writer and videographer based in Macau for over 12 years.  For his current main musical project Concrete/Lotus – a duo with singer Joana de Freitas – he plays guitar, piano, drums and synthesizers, while singing and rapping – brought together through live looping – to create original music live. Concrete/Lotus recently launched their first single Elevate and is preparing their second single Fighter, to be launched mid-December of this year. Kelsey continues to pursue his passions in videography and writing – including starting the Macau Scriptwriters group – as well as dance and acting. He is a strong proponent of the local arts and culture scene and is working to increase the exposure of local artists to international markets, while simultaneously raising awareness of local artists here at home.

– What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Setting up my musical equipment and jamming with friends outside by the beach or in a park on a sunny day.

– If you could go back in time to any event in history, what would it be?
History is already written, I would prefer to be able to go to the future and see what we’ve created with our rampant technological potential – the dream we desired or the nightmare we feared.

– What’s your favourite book?
Hyperion by Dan Simmons

– And your favorite musician?
Every genre has its own incredible musicians and many musicians defy genres. Recently I’ve been hooked on a rapper/producer called Oddisee – very powerful message and melodic sounds.

– Who is your hero?
Definitely not Kanye West.

– What can always cheer you up when you having a bad day?
A cold beer and a good book.

– What’s your worst habit?
Over-thinking everything.

– If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon.

– If you could travel to any place on earth, where would you go?
Everywhere. The world is an incredibly diverse place that once you start exploring – you can never stop.

– If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?
What I do now, with less stress.

– What’s your favourite season or festival?
I used to think it was the winter – I love the peacefulness of snow. But then I freeze every time I go outside and my fingers are so cold I can’t play instruments. Summer – hands down.

– What’s your favourite place in Macau?
Wherever my friends are.
