Recently, OpenAI launched GPT-4o, significantly boosting the capabilities of its most famous product ChatGPT. Artificial Intelligence (AI) – essentially self-learning computer software – was once a thing of science fiction, but today it is very much a part of our every day lives. We all use it in some way, often without even knowing. This technology is powerful stuff and it’s already changing the world, but exactly how it will affect our future, nobody can truly predict. In this issue we speak to people in Macau – in business, education and the arts – who are embracing AI, to find out how they are using it and what they think the future might look in an AI-driven Macau.
Recently, Macau CLOSER ran the fourth edition of our annual photography competition, based around the theme of famous Portuguese poet Luis Camoes, rumoured to have spent time here in the city during his adventurous life. This year is the 500th anniversary of his death and we asked local photographers to capture a sense of his presence in the city today. Check out the winning photos in these pages.
