It never crossed my mind to use the slogan of our magazine as the title for an Editor’s Note. Not until this July 2016 issue, when we decided to take a journey into wellness and the stories of a number of people contributing to a healthier lifestyle in Macau.
Inspiring stories indeed, the ones from the communitarian Blissful Coloane Market – a place for art, handmade crafts and other goods – and the people showcasing their products and services there. From body moisturisers to birth preparation services, from healthy juices to balanced delivered meals, the market created by Marisa Edgelow Randles and Alyson Lundstrom has many merits.
Reading the previously mentioned pieces and also the ones on local Yoga and CrossFit lessons, on the best spas in town and the hottest healing retreats in the region, made me learn a lot of things I wasn’t aware of. Hopefully, some of those will have a positive impact in my daily life.
Know More, Live Better – that’s right. But don’t get me wrong. I’m all but a man living an extreme healthy lifestyle. As the famous chef and TV presenter Anthony Bourdain once said: “Your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride”. I couldn’t agree more.
To fully enjoy your body and all the fun, however, you also need to take care of it. Eating well, doing some kind of sports that you enjoy, or having a revitalizing treatment can certainly help finding that balance many aim for.
Because Arts and Culture should also be part of that same equation, go and check out Auguste Borget’s exhibition at the Macao Museum of Art, it’s one worth visiting. And don’t forget to read our Closing Story; on the troubling case of the allegedly abducted Hong Kong booksellers – something for us to remember, not all things are on the right track in this world of ours.
Here at CLOSER, we believe the more we know about this mystery of being alive, the better we can cope with it all. Enjoy the ride.
