Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) places corporate social responsibility and charitable activities at the heart of its business and always strives to create a better Macau. Over the years GEG and its team members have organized and taken part in a series of events and activities that benefit both the society and the team members at the same time, encouraging more people to contribute to the local community.
To usher in the Year of Monkey, GEG invited over 100 elderlies from the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau to enjoy a sumptuous meal and festive entertainment at Oasis restaurant at Galaxy Macau™ to thank them for their contribution and dedication to the development of Macau.
During the event GEG executives and volunteer team members played games, delivered red packets and presented festive gift packs containing Chinese New Year pudding, food and hand-knitted scarves made by GEG volunteers. One of the volunteers dressed as the God of Wealth to entertain the elderlies while a lucky draw was held towards the end of the luncheon.
GEG is also dedicated to fostering local youth and helping to cultivate future leaders for society. This year marks the fifth year of the GEG Youth Achievement Program (“YAP”), which is co-organized by GEG and Macau Management Association. The program had organized a two-day team building camp in January which aimed to educate participants on the importance of communication and effectively leading a team to achieve their goals, which underlined YAP’s main goal – for local teenagers to “Reach out, Reach beyond”.
Moreover, YAP participants held a community service challenge day in March to spread love to society. In the morning of the event, participants gathered at the hub of Macau and invited strangers to undertake five challenges, which included folding paper cranes and offering hugs to strangers. Through the activity, participants were able to enhance skills, build confidence and facilitate interaction with the community.
In addition to the community service challenge day, three outstanding local entrepreneurs were invited to present their innovative ideas and insights at a sharing session. The speakers encouraged participants to hone their talents and develop their careers by setting specific goals.
GEG also provides ongoing support to the vulnerable communities in Macau. In celebration of Easter, fifteen GEG volunteer team members and Mr. Michael Mecca, President of GEG, visited the Hil Kong Center of the Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau in March and joined the Easter Bunny Basket Workshop with the service users. GEG volunteers and service users worked side by side to create adorable Easter bunny baskets with assorted colourful papers, white cotton puffs, and drawings. The volunteers filled the baskets with candies and treats. GEG also donated MOP100,000 to the association to support its operations.
Furthermore, in April, GEG invited 80 members and parents from Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired to Viva La Broadway, a spectacular variety show at Broadway Macau™. After the show the association members and parents were invited to a meet and greet with the Viva La Broadway performers, where they took photographs together.
As one of the biggest employers in the city, GEG understands the importance of maintaining its team members’ wellbeing. It constantly organizes a series of activities and provides supporting services for its team members. One of them is the GEG Soccer Fun Day organized by the GEG Staff Social Club for the third consecutive year. The activity encouraged GEG team members to exercise outdoors more often and frequently rolls out sporting activities to stimulate team bonding and promote work-life balance among team members.
To promote a healthy work-life balance, relieve stress and improve performance, Overseas Laborer Service of Caritas Macau distributed leaflets to back-of-house team members at Galaxy Macau in April, describing their employee assistance services, and Sheng Kung Hui Gambling Counselling and Family Wellness Center had also launched the Employee Assistance Program and Responsible Gaming Promotion Program since 2014, to provide GEG team members with various services, including a support hotline, face-to-face counselling, on-site counselling and WeChat online counselling.
Upholding the philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, GEG will continuously give back to the community and strive for the sustainable development and harmonious future of Macau.Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) places corporate social responsibility and charitable activities at the heart of its business and always strives to create a better Macau.
