Macau singers David Chan, Anabela Ieong, Fanny Cheong, Hyper Lo, Cherry Ho, AJ, Josie Ho and Jose Rodrigues have once again come together to create a collaborative music album, Macau Original Melodies Vol. 3 (MOM Vol. 3). As with their previous albums, which were dedicated to supporting local charities, all proceeds generated from the sales of Vol.3 will be used to support the operations of the Macau Down Syndrome Association
Josie Ho tells CLOSER that the songs on the album are about friendship, family and inspiration. Many of them have lively upbeat tunes and the design of the album is also very colourful, which matches the joyous character of the members of the Association. She hopes that the general public can better understand people with Down Syndrome and reject any form of discrimination.
Among the songs on the album is My Sweethearts, which is specially dedicated to the Association. Apart from the version performed by the eight singers, the album also includes a heart-warming version of the song sung by the Association’s members.
There are several new comer musicians and lyricists who have joined this year’s MOM Vol. 3. Josie believes that working with different musicans can help bringing more musical elements to the album. In fact, the lyrics of Josie’s song on the album were written by her husband Boris Wong.
Josie notes that one of her favourite songs on the album is the one performed by Fanny Cheong.
“This song is sung by Fanny and her son. This is the first time her son recorded a song in a studio. I really like the content of the song, which is about the a mother’s constant concern for her son’s wellbeing, which I think is very sweet.”
When talking about future plans, Josie does not rule out inviting more singers to join the MOM project.
“We have talked about the possibility of organizing an MOM singing contest and inviting the winner to join the next MOM production, but nothing is confirmed yet.”
The album is already available for sale in designated Macau and Hong Kong CD stores and major online music platforms.
