The sound of STOMP

Some names are loud and clear and that’s the case of STOMP, the world-renowned theatrical group, an eight-person performance that uses everyday items such as lighters, bin lids, plastic bags and even kitchen sinks, to hammer out an explosive rhythm. They’ll be coming to The Venetian Theatre from September 23 to October 9.

Originally from the UK and created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas in 1991, STOMP combines percussion, dance, theatre and comedy with a soundtrack inspired by the commotion of daily life, creating beats of different sounds, composing a feel-good percussive symphony.

STOMP has been touring the globe for 25 years, bringing over 20,000 performances to more than 12 million people in 53 countries across six continents. There are up to five STOMP companies performing worldwide at any time.

The collective has also performed at several big events, including the 1996 Oscars, the American Academy Awards, which received an estimated 1 billion audience globally; and a specially choreographed appearance at the closing ceremony at the London 2012 Olympic Games, it was the largest assembly of STOMP performers ever, as 40 performers from 12 different countries were brought together for one single performance.

Other than touring the world, STOMP also has permanent shows in New York and London.

Tickets for the Venetian Theatre are already on sale and range from MOP 144 to MOP 780
