L-Show at Macau Fashion Link presents stunning Lusophone designs
In November, Macau Fashion Link 2013 hosted ‘The L Show’ at Albergue SCM, a center for artistic and design-related activities in the city’s historic St Lazarus district.
‘The L Show’ (L for Lusophone) featured some of the most famous contemporary designers from Lusophone countries and territories around the globe, including Mozambique, Angola, Portugal, Macau and China. The show brought together a diverse range of innovative designers, who while all very distinctive in their identities, share a common native language of Portuguese.
The creations of renowned Portuguese fashion designer Sara Lamúrias, took to the catwalk alongside those of Marinela Rodrigues of Mozambique, Angolan Louis De Gama and Victor Zhu, from China.
Local Macau talents Bárbara Diaz, San Lee and Lines Lab, among others, also presented their most recent range of striking designs, achieving one of the key goals of MFL in serving and promoting the talent of the local arts and creative industries, while creating a bridge with other fashion icons of the Lusophone world.
Macau Fashion Link is an initiative that aims to promote and encourage local talent and industry to develop their potential and opportunities, in Macau, and throughout the Pearl River Delta, especially Hengqin Island, and indeed throughout the Portuguese speaking countries of the world. It also aims to provide exposure and opportunities for local designers and aspiring models.
The philosophy is to be a ‘three in one’ event by achieving the three goals of: promoting local creative industries; supporting the increasing cooperation of Macau with Guangdong; and fostering links with other Portuguese speaking countries.
