Macau-born Portuguese percussionist and singer-songwriter João Caetano is about to release his “Uma Só Voz” (At One Voice) debut duet single with Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick, founder of legendary band Incognito.
João Caetano, a son of Portuguese parents was born and raised in this city and who recently performed at the Macau Literary Festival, in March this year, moved to the U.K at the age of 18 to study music at Chichester University. In the beginning of his career, João joined the legendary band Incognito at the age of 21. He has since done five world tours and made four albums, as a core member of the band. He has also collaborated with artists such as Chaka Khan, Mario Biondi, Anastacia, Leona Lewis, Jessie J and Dionne Bromfield.
As part of the original soundtrack for “Eric – You Will Never Walk Alone”, a documentary produced and filmed in Macau, the single “Uma Só Voz” joins the solidarity project aiming at giving a voice to those whose voices often go unheard. A percentage of the profits from the sales of the single will be donated to Macau's Santa Casa da Misericórdia (Holy House of Mercy) charity institution.
Incognito founder Bluey recognized João as a talent ever since he joined the band. “Most of our Incognito fan base will know him for his energetic percussion performances in the band for the past few years and for his part in the drum solos which have become the highlight of our shows, but few will know that he is an incredible singer songwriter, guitarist and violinist”, says the leader Incognito, adding: “Coming soon is his album sung in his mother tongue Portuguese. This collaboration is just a taste of what is to come and an opportunity for me to endorse his talent and help him on the path to the wider world as he embarks on his first solo journey”.
Taking listeners on a sonic adventure, the single will be released on September 9, by new value own-brand label SplashBlue, co-owned by Bluey, as will Caetano’s trilingual website www.joaocaetano.com.
The single will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon and Tidal, and can already be purchased on iTunes during the pre- sales period.
