Macau CLOSER is proud to announce the “Macau 2022 – Reawakening” photography competition, this year in its third edition.
2022 has been another mixed year for the city with a seemingly a positive start, followed by a tough summer, and hopefully a strong finish still to come. Despite the challenges, throughout the year, a number of major events and public celebrations were able to take place, bringing a sense of hope and joy to all.
The theme of this year’s Macau CLOSER Photography Competition ‘Reawakening’ reflects the optimism and encouragement these events have brought to the city, not fully reopen, yet striving for a return to more prosperous and successful days ahead.
This competition invites Macau-based photographers to submit some of their best photos taken any time from the beginning of the year until the competition deadline at any major event or public activity – sporting, entertainment, cultural or others – to be considered by a jury of experts and to be in the running to win great cash prizes.
Entrants should try to present an image of the city that symbolizes or reflects the theme of the competition, as they view it. A title and description should accompany each entry.
The competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers.
The deadline for submission is January 6, 2023. First Prize is MOP2,500, runner up MOP1,000 plus magazine subscriptions and book vouchers at the Portuguese Bookshop. The winning photos will also be published in the upcoming issues of Macau CLOSER.
Photos can be submitted into one of two competition categories:
• Single photo
• Series (minimum of 3, maximum of 5)
The competition Jury will select a short list of photographs for consideration. The photographs will be presented on Macau CLOSER’s Facebook page for the public to vote on. The jurors will select the winning photographs in both categories, and there will be a separate prize reflecting the online voting.
Prizes will be presented to the top three winners in each category.
The Jury will also select a maximum of five Honorary Mentions.
A selection of submitted photographs will be published in the January-February issue of Macau CLOSER magazine, and in our sister publication, Ponto Final newspaper.
