When the Macao Cultural Centre started the celebrated HUSH!! Full Band Festival in 2005, it was seen as a chance to give hometown bands an opportunity to show residents what they were capable of.
With more than 60 local bands and 50 overseas bands having performed over the last nine years, and with an audience of over 7000 at the 2013 event, HUSH!! has, without a doubt, put regional rock on the agenda in a big way.
2014 will see nine local bands performing, with five bands from overseas joining in this landmark edition. Famous names from the Macau music scene will include: Blademark, Bomber, Catalyser, Experience, Joäo Gomes e Band, LAVY, Scamper, Sketch and WhyOceans.
WhyOceans’ Jackal Tam feels that the event is great for musicians and audiences alike.
“There have not been enough platforms or events for local bands to promote their music, so HUSH!! is a good opportunity for us to showcase our music to local audiences and get more exposure,” he says.
And he’s confident the band’s fans have something special to look forward to at the landmark event taking place on November 22.
“In all previous years, we’ve strived to bring the best of music to our music fans; it’ll be no exception this year,” assures Jackal.
Bruce Pun from Experience also has praise for the event.
“We need more platforms of this kind to promote local music. HUSH!! has lasted for ten years because of its value. This year we'll bring all our new work to the stage.”
The bands will play from afternoon to evening, offering more than seven hours of continuous music, with food and drinks on hand, as well as entertaining acts in a chill out area where the audience can take a break. Get ready to rock!
